More than 57 years at the service of agriculture and industry
Since 1967, Monomeros has played a fundamental role in the development of Colombian agriculture and industry. Our creation is the result of the integration of two countries: Colombia and Venezuela, and the support of Dutch technology.
Thanks to Venezuela's wealth of raw materials and the great potential of the textile and fertilizer market in Colombia, the National Council approves the incorporation of Monomeros in the largest BINATIONAL project in the region in the last 50 years.
With the initial participation of Instituto de Fomento Industrial (IFI), Empresa Colombiana de Petróleos, ECOPETROL, and Instituto Venezolano de Petroquímica (IV), the public deed of Monómeros was executed.
With the integration of Stamicarbon de Holanda, the corporate name was modified and the legal form of the company was changed to Monómeros Colombo Venezolanos S.A..
The facilities of the complex are inaugurated in one of the most important port cities, in the city of Barranquilla, thus initiating an industrial and economic movement of great importance for the growth of Colombia.
The assembly of the plants was completed and operations at the Complex were normalized.

The shipping company Compass Rose Shipping Ltda. is created, which provides a cargo service dedicated to Colombia and Venezuela from Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States and West Africa. This successful company is the result of the association of MONÓMEROS COLOMBO VENEZOLANOS S.A. (EMA), with the CLIPPER group, a Danish shipping company.
A shareholding is acquired in the VANYLON Company, a producer of nylon filaments.
Cargill's fertilizer operation in Colombia is acquired and renamed ECOFÉRTIL, which is dedicated to the production and marketing of simple and mixed fertilizers. Its headquarters are in Bogotá and its mixed fertilizer production plant is in Buenaventura.
The company Monómeros International Ltd. is created. This company, based in the British Virgin Islands, aims to carry out logistics and commercial operations with both Monómeros and third parties and to streamline the documentary management of Monómeros imports.
The Colombian Petroleum Company (ECOPETROL) and the Institute for Industrial Development (IFI) sold their shareholding to the Venezuelan partner Petroquímica de Venezuela (PEQUIVEN).
After this transaction, PEQUIVEN's stake in Monómeros is 100%.
Due to the commercial conditions of the product, the company makes the decision to close the Caprolactam line.
In June 2014, the development of the 2015-2019 strategic plan began, which was approved by the Board of Directors in November of the same year.
In 2018, the production and marketing of the product was limited due to the actions applied to the Monómeros Group by the US Treasury Department.
In May 2019, the Venezuelan National Assembly, representing the Interim Government headed by Juan Guaidó, appointed a new Board of Directors to manage the company, with the endorsement of the Colombian government.
The new corporate strategy is redefined with a 2030 vision.
The development of the new corporate strategy begins, through initiatives led by the organization's process leaders, to guarantee the growth and sustainability of the company in the national market.
